Description
Hadrontherapy is taking a major role in modern radiation treatment of cancer. The National Centre of Oncological Hadrontherapy (Centro Nazionale di Adroterapia Oncologica, CNAO) is one of the most experienced hadrontherapy centers around the world, and has been developing Python-based medical data analysis/calculation tools, such as for handling CT values, resizing CT images, calculating doses and supporting Monte Carlo simulations. The tools use Matplotlib and Pyqt4 for GUI, pydicom and numpy for data loading and processing, and pycuda for large-scale core data processing. PyCUDA allows for fast matrix calculation on modern architectures.
This presentation consists of two parts:
* Physical, non-statistical data analysis based on CNAO-built programs;
* Understanding of data in general, by historical-to-modern examples including machine learning and data science.
